Surgery's Over!
Sorry, it took us a while to get this update. Dr. Reinisch came out to talk with us at 2:25 PM LA time and said that everything went smoothly! Sydney was slow to wake up and, as you can imagine, not in the best of moods. We arrived back at our hotel around 6:30 PM LA time and she is already sleeping. She has two drains coming out of her head, one from her new ear and one under her scalp. There is also a tube placed under the skin on her lower abdomen that slowly releases a local anesthetic where he took a skin graft. He took pictures in the OR when he was done. We are anxiously waiting for him to email those pictures to us and then we will post them. Any words I place here describing the wonderful work Dr. Reinisch did will not do him justice. Wait for the pictures.

Yeah! What great news. I'm so happy to hear it went well and Sydney is recovering. Praise God! I hope you all have a quiet, peaceful sleep tonight.

I'm so glad everything went well today. I knew it would because she had so many people praying for her. Madison can't wait to see Syd and her new ear. Madison had her status on instant messenger for Syd today, so all her friends would pray for her. We cant wait for pictures!!!!
Such a joy to read your post-surgery update. We've been thinking of you all day...God does hear our prayers! This was a huge milestone with many more to follow...we will all keep praying every step of the way.

Fabulous news. Prayers are powerful. We know your journey isn't over yet. I'm still praying for sydney and parents AND grandparents and doctors and I could REALLY use a cup of coffee but I'll say a prayer instead.
